  • What does “Trap Baby & Me” mean?
The name “Trap Baby & Me” was chosen to indicate the type of music that will be played. Etymologically, “trap” is a term that is used to describe a specific type of rap music out of Atlanta, Georgia. Now, it is used as a descriptor for all types of events that mix a standard fun activity with any type of hip-hop and R&B music (e.g., Trap Karaoke, Trap Paint & Sip). Trap Baby & Me takes this same idea and applies it to a music class for babies and toddlers, but with the added educational element.
  • Why is it “Trap Baby & Me” and not “Trap Mommy & Me”?
Many early childhood programs are either called “Mommy & Me” or emphasize the relationship between mother and child. In Trap Baby & Me, we’re doing things a bit differently. We want to develop the relationship between the child and his or her family. “Me” means any caregiver of the child. Dads are most welcome…as are grandparents, aunts and uncles, and even nannies!
  • The name “Trap Baby & Me” implies that there will be rap music played. Is the music explicit?
Classes definitely use rap music as a part of the learning experience. However, either clean versions of songs are used, or the explicit portions are edited out.
  • Will only rap music be played?
In addition to rap music, children and their caregivers will engage with music that represents all facets of the African Diaspora. This includes genres like Afrobeats, Reggae, and Jazz.
  • What is the minimum age for Trap Baby & Me?
There is no minimum. Your baby can come fresh out the womb! (You may want to clean them up a little first.) Seriously, it is recommended that you wait until the child gets his or her first set of vaccinations. Otherwise, new humans are welcome.
  • Why do parents or caregivers need to be present?
Trap Baby & Me is designed to allow you to have time with your child, away from the responsibilities of running a household. We want you to model the movements and activities so that your child will mimic them. Also, we want you to replicate the things we do in class at home. Repetition is such a powerful learning tool!
  • I am unable to bring my child, but I still want them to participate. Can someone else bring them instead?
Yes, of course! Any caregiver of the child is welcome to come: moms, dads, grandparents, uncles, etc. Older siblings are permitted to accompany your child, but they must be 16 or older.
  • My child is walking, but I am not sure if I should register for the infant class or the toddler class. What should I do?
The infant class age range is from newborn to about 15 months, while the toddler class age range is from 16 months to 3 years. The age delineation is not hard and fast, though. It is really based on mobility. If your child is a strong walker at 12 months, it may be better for you to register for the toddler class. If you need assistance with this decision, please email us at info@trapbabyandme.com.
  • My child is older than the age limit for Trap Baby & Me, but we would like to attend the classes. Can we register anyway?
At this time, classes are limited to age 3. However, as we grow and expand, so will the age limit. Please complete the Contact Us form found at the bottom of this page. We will let you know when classes for older children open.
  • I have multiple children that I would like to enroll, but one is an infant and the other is a toddler. What should I do?
We recommend that you enroll your children in the infant classroom. Also, you will enjoy a sibling discount.
  • Where are you located?
Trap Baby & Me is currently located in Orlando, Florida. We plan to begin classes in Jacksonville, Florida in Spring 2023. Other locations will open as we expand.
  • I do not live in central Florida. When is Trap Baby & Me coming to my city?
Soon! Please complete the Contact Us form found at the bottom of this page to let us know which area we should come to next.
  • Will there be virtual classes?
We do not have virtual classes at this time. One of the benefits of Trap Baby & Me is to connect with the music and other people within your community in person. However, we will be bringing classes online in some capacity very soon. Complete the Contact Us form to let us know that you are interested in this option.
  • I don’t have any children in the target age range, but I would love to come and dance with the babies. May I?
We love that you want to party with the babies, but for the privacy and safety of the little ones...no unaccompanied adults! Sorry.
